Barbara Treat service moved to Vilar Center

Daily Staff Report

BEAVER CREEK ” So many people want to go to Friday’s memorial for Barbara Treat that organizers have moved the service from the Beaver Creek Chapel to the Vilar Center for the Arts.

The service is scheduled for 1 p.m., with a reception following, also at the Vilar Center. The memorial is being hosted by the many nonprofit organizations Treat supported.

Vail Resorts has reserved the Elk Lot at the base of Beaver Creek for memorial service parking, with special buses running to the Vilar Center beginning at noon.

Treat died Jan. 7 following a six-month battle with stomach cancer.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the newly-created Barbara Treat Foundation to benefit children throughout the Vail Valley. The Vail Valley Foundation will administer the money raised by the Barbara Treat Foundation.
