‘Barefoot in the Park’ romps into Gypsum
GYPSUM, Colorado – Porchlight Players Community Theater Company plans an evening of fast-paced comedy when it presents Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park.”
Free-spirited newlywed Corie Bratter sets up a blind date between her conservative mother, Ethel Banks, and the “Bluebeard of 48th Street,” Victor Velasco. The evening spirals into chaos when Victor suggests riding the Staten Island Ferry in the middle of February to an Albanian restaurant, where the lack of ambiance is made up for by the profusion of ouzo and spicy Greek food.
Returning home at 2 a.m., Corie and her new husband, Paul, a freshly minted lawyer, get into the first fight of their two-week-old marriage. Love, marriage and the art of compromise are explored in this sparklingly witty play.
Performances are at 7 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Eagle Valley High School Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
