VAIL — Though the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships are but days away, the surprises keep coming for fans, as another big name was announced Tuesday to the free concerts lineup: popular Canadian alt-rock band the Barenaked Ladies.

The Barenaked Ladies are a Grammy-nominated heavy hitter with a track record of live performances that promises a memorable evening for Vail on Feb. 9. With more than 14 million albums sold and countless hits including “One Week,” “The Old Apartment,” “Pinch Me,” “If I Had $1000000” and “Brian Wilson,” the Barenaked Ladies’ free concert will be a true highlight during the two weeks of the World Championships.

“Opening Ceremonies are almost here, and we’re thrilled to add to the excitement a little bit more with another big act announced today,” said Ceil Folz, president of the Vail Valley Foundation and 2015 World Championships Organizing Committee. “We hope that fans will enjoy what we have in store for them each evening after the races are over — we have a stellar lineup and can’t wait to deliver it in a few short days.”

The free concerts, scheduled in conjunction with the nightly Medals Presentation at Vail’s Championships Plaza, located at Solaris, will be free to the public with the live show kicking off each evening at 6:30 p.m. It is recommended that guests arrive early to ensure a prime viewing spot. Guests should also plan for security bag checks — details for items permitted can be found online at vailbeavercreek2015.com.
