EAGLE- The man who shot a black bear last fall in Bachelor Gulch is again in the news.Jon Tietbohl, 45, was arrested Dec. 27 by Eagle Police at the AmericInn and charged with domestic violence and third-degree assault, according to a police report. Last fall Tietbohl fired a handgun at a bear he said approached him and his wife as they were getting into their car in front of their Bachelor Gulch home. The bear had apparently been frequenting the Tietbohl home. Wildlife officers followed a blood trail, but were unable to determine the fate of the bear. The Bachelor Gulch Homeowner’s Association fined Tietbohl $1,000 for breaking homeowner covenants by discharging a firearm.According to a police report, Tietbohl and his wife, Damari, argued after a dinner in Edwards, and then, at the hotel room, he allegedly grabbed her arm and wrestled her to the floor. The report also alleges she sustained an injury to her upper lip, but refused medical attention. When she attempted to use a cell phone, Tietbohl allegedly had took it away and stomped on it, police said. According to the police report, the woman said her husband “gets like this occasionally, only when he drinks red wine.” She estimated he had “at least three glasses,” the police report said. A manager at the motel called police when both Tietbohls were allegedly overheard threatening each other, police said.
