Bears return to Dusty Boot in Beaver Creek
Beaver Creek, CO Colorado
BEAVER CREEK, Colorado – A large bear and two cubs dropped by the Dusty Boot in Beaver Creek, Colorado last week for some macaroni and cheese.
Workers at the bar and restaurant have been making sure all of its doors are closed since a bear wandered into its kitchen last month and drank about 25 pounds of Pepsi syrup. But a week ago Sunday, a side door was propped open just after the restaurant closed and employees were cleaning up, bartender Todd Shollenberger said.
Shollenberger said he got a call from a night auditor at a neighboring hotel who saw the bears walk into the restaurant.
“The little ones were underneath a table eating mac and cheese,” he said. “There had a been a big family with a bunch of kids sitting there.”
The bigger bear was found wandering through the bar.
“We yelled at them and made a lot of noise,” Shollenberger said. “They walked out, but they weren’t in a hurry. They didn’t really seem startled to see us.
“They’ve been up here in the village quite a bit,” he said.
Once the bears left, they wandered through the heart of Beaver Creek Village, past the ice rink, Shollenberger said.
