Beauprez, Holtzman to speak at GOP dinner
VAIL – The Republican candidates for governor will both speak at the local party’s annual Lincoln Day dinner on Sunday, March 19. The dinner is at the Vail Cascade Resort and Spa.The candidates, U.S. Rep. Bob Beauprez and Denver University President Marc Holtzman, will speak to local Republicans, as will Ken Chlouber, the party’s candidate for to represent Eagle and Summit counties in the Colorado House of Representatives. Candidates for other state and local offices, or their representatives, will also be at the dinner.This year’s event is sponsored by the High Country Republican Women, an organization of party activists from Eagle, Lake and Summit counties.The evening’s activities include a private reception with the candidates at 5 p.m. for “250 Club” members, those who contribute $250 or more to the party. A cash bar reception begins at 5:30 p.m., and dinner starts at 6:30 p.m.Tickets are $250 for “250 Club” members, $50 for everyone else. EAGLE COUNTY – Local Republicans will start their 2006 election season on March 21 with a series of neighborhood meetings called “precinct caucuses.”The meetings – to be held in El Jebel, Eagle, Burns, McCoy and Avon – are the first step in a process that selects candidates for local offices. Those who go to the neighborhood meetings will select delegates to the county assembly, set for Saturday, April 8 in Eagle.
