Beav’ to open five lifts Wednesday

BEAVER CREEK – Beaver Creek Mountain will open its 25th season Wednesday with five lifts serving 23 runs and 412 acres.The mountain will open the Centennial Express Lift (Chair 6), Cinch Express Lift (Chair 8), Drink of Water Lift (Chair 5), Haymeadow Lift (Chair 1) and Rose Bowl Lift (Chair 4). Beaver Creek spokeswoman Christina Schleicher said the resort will offer a good variety of terrain Wednesday.

“We’ll have all of the beginner terrain up top,” she said. “Rose Bowl will be a great place for experts to hit Cataract, Ripsaw and Spider. Centennial and Latigo will be good groomed cruising runs.”The resort has received more than two feet of snow in the past 10 days.The resort will also hold the second annual Beaver Creek Cookie Competition, in which visitors can vote on their favorite homemade chocolate cookies. Five finalists are vying to have their recipe chosen for the resort’s official cookie.

Tasting will be from 2-2:30 p.m. by the ice rink. The winner will be announced at 3 p.m. The winning recipe will be Beaver Creek’s signature cookie, used for special occasions throughout the winter.On Wednesday, Vail Mountain will open Game Creek Express (Chair 7), Minnie’s Lift (Chair 9), Gopher Hill Lift (Chair 12), Cascade Village Lift (Chair 20) and two beginner surface lifts at Golden Peak.
