Beaver Creek Culinary Classic on tap for early February

Special to the Daily/Toni Axelrod One of the highlights of the Beaver Creek Culinary Classic is the Celebrity Ski Race. Teams of four chefs will careen down Nastar on Beaver Creek Mountain for a little healthy competition out of the kitchen. The festival takes place Feb. 2-5.

BEAVER CREEK – Beaver Creek Resort pairs with Bon Appétit magazine and a lineup of America’s top culinary chefs to present the annual Beaver Creek Culinary Classic Feb. 2-5. Now in its eighth consecutive year, the 2006 winter festival will feature a Celebrity Chef Ski Race, Grand Tasting, MasterChef Challenge, cooking demonstrations, wine seminars, live music and more. More than 30 chefs from Beaver Creek and across the nation are expected to participate.Participating chefs include Eric Ripert of Le Bernardin in New York; Hubert Keller of Fleur de Lys in Las Vegas; Ming Tsai of Blue Ginger in Wellesley, Mass.; Richard Sandoval of Modern Mexican Restaurants in New York and other locations; Kerry Simon of Simon Kitchen and Bar in Las Vegas; Govind Armstrong of Table 8 in Los Angeles; Elizabeth Falkner of Citizen Cake in San Francisco; Laurent Tourondel of BLT Steak, BLT Fish, BLT Prime in New York; Waldy Malouf of Beacon in New York; Susan Feniger of the Food Network’s “The Two Hot Tamales” and Border Grill in Los Angeles and Las Vegas; Mary Sue Milliken, also of Border Grill.

The centerpiece of the weekend is the Grand Tasting.
