BEAVER CREEK, Colorado – Beaver Creek Resort is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and the visionaries, founders, developers and friends who made it happen are getting together for a weekend of reminiscing, laughter and memories.

All those involved in or part of the community during the planning and development of Beaver Creek Resort through the 1981-82 season are invited to join the festivities Dec. 10-12. It is not an invitation-only event, but rather a gathering of celebration of the development of what has become one of North America’s most luxurious and beautiful family resorts.

“This is about getting friends and family together and celebrating what has become one of the greatest mountain resorts in the world,” said Larry Lichliter, organizing committee member for the Beaver Creek Reunion.

The main event is Dec. 11 from 5:30-11 p.m. at McCoy’s in Village Hall at the base of Beaver Creek. A dinner with food stations and cash bar will be available as attendees connect with old friends and share memories of 30 years ago. Tickets are $50 and must be purchased o-line by the end of business on Tuesday.

Other events will take place throughout the weekend including skiing in the First Tracks program for registered participants at 8 a.m. Dec. 11 and apres ski each day. Discounted lift tickets are available to pre-registered Beaver Creek Reunion attendees.

Informal apres ski will be held daily at the Coyote Cafe at the base of the escalator in Beaver Creek.

“A comprehensive website lists all attendees, some nostalgic photographs and all details of the event,” Lichliter said. “It is certain to be an incredible weekend and we encourage anyone interested to check out the website, RSVP, get out their ski gear and come enjoy some old friends and some of the best early season skiing in decades – certainly better conditions and facilities than when we opened in 1980!”

Organizers are encouraging attendees to bring memorabilia, photos, uniforms and other nostalgic items to the event. All those involved – even those who cannot attend the weekend – are encouraged to post photos and memories on the specially created website

The planning committee – comprised of Carol King, Tom Leonard, Larry Lichliter, Roger Lessman, Kathy Macy, Rick MacCutcheon, and Jeanne Reid White – has organized a weekend designed to relive the camaraderie and passion that went into the making of Beaver Creek
