BEAVER CREEK, Colorado ” Friday is the day to put on your costume and join the fun at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek for the Ultimate Halloween Gala, a fundraiser for Eagle County Charter Academy (ECCA).

“This party is THE Halloween event of the year for adults,” said Dawn Harker, chair of the fundraiser. “It is truly an event not to be missed. But more importantly, this is the biggest fundraiser of the year for ECCA. The money we raise literally keeps the lights on and the doors open. We start each school year $440,000 in the red, even after generous donations from our parents, so the event is vital to the fiscal health of ECCA. ”

The event, which begins at 6:45 p.m., features complimentary appetizers, wine and New Belgium Brewery beer during the cocktail hour, followed by dinner, live auction and Al-Tune and the Kool Kompany playing music for the guests’ listening and dancing pleasure.

“The packages we’ve put together for our live auction are amazing,” Harker said. “We have trips to Lech, Austria, Florence, Italy, Kauai, the Bahamas, golfing in Ireland, a VIP hockey experience in Montreal, a cruise on a private yacht along the coast of Croatia. You can buy a week in a luxury villa anywhere in the world, a Spago dinner experience or a ski-in/ski-out World Cup weekend in Beaver Creek.”

Parents of ECCA students donated several auction items are available in the all-night silent auction. Among these donations are three different Denver Escape packages, complements of the kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades, include lodging, dining and sporting event tickets. The 3rd and 4th grade parents donated dozens of bottles of wine to create an eclectic “Fill Your Cellar” collection. From the 5th and 6th grade parents comes a fully stocked humidor.

The theme of this year’s event is “A Night in Transylvania.” Costumes are highly recommended, but not required.

“Our guests usually dress according to the theme,” said Linda Boyne, chair of the 2007 event. “But really anything goes. I’ m blown away year after year by the costumes that people come up with. I’m usually among the least creative! This year’s Transylvania theme is easy for the costume-challenged like myself; just wear black and a pair of fangs and come join the fun!”

This year, the Ultimate Halloween Gala has been incorporated into Beaver Creek Resort’s Halloweenfest. Friday night’s party will provide the adult component to this family friendly weekend.
