Beaver Creek hosts Colorado’s premier golf tournament for women

BEAVER CREEK ” Beaver Creek Resort and Colorado AvidGolfer Magazine team up to offer a golf and leisure event designed just for women. The Beaver Creek Women’s Invitational presented by Bank of Choice will offer golf, apres-golf activities, luxury lodging, social and networking opportunities for female golf enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. The tournament will be hosted by the newly renovated Beaver Creek Golf Club Sept. 14-15, 2007.
The two-person scramble tournament is open to the public and will take place on Friday, Sept. 14. The $1,500 entry fee includes golf for two, an apres-golf and dinner party at the award-winning Beano’s Cabin, a night of luxury accommodations at The Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa, breakfast and exclusive gift bags. Participants will be eligible to win $25,000 towards the purchase or lease of a new Lexus, a $25,000 investment account, $20,000 in cash, roundtrip tickets on American Airlines and other prizes.
“We’ve elevated the Beaver Creek golf experience with major improvements to the course and a state-of-the-art clubhouse,” said David Lopez, director of golf at the Beaver Creek Golf Club. “We’re thrilled to partner with Colorado AvidGolfer to host the ultimate women’s golf and leisure event.”
A fully renovated clubhouse and improved Beaver Creek Golf Course will greet participants. Clubhouse amenities include a new golf shop, new members lounge and the new Rendezvous Club restaurant. This summer marks the end of a large-scale course improvement project including reshaped bunkers, an improved drainage system and new sand for better playability. Golfers will also find renovated cart paths, a new fleet of golf carts and fresh landscaping. The 18-hole Robert Trent Jones, Jr. championship design is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary and ranks among Golf Digest magazine’s “Top 75 Golf Resorts in North America.” The club is the former home of the Gerald Ford Invitational.

Participants and guests can also experience a taste of San Francisco at the new Beaver Creek Wine and Spirits Festival, Sept. 13-15. San Francisco-area celebrity chefs including Hubert Keller of Fleur de Lys, Richard Sandoval of Modern Mexican Restaurants, Joseph Manzare of Zuppa and Gerald Hirigoyen of Piperade will pair food, wine and spirits with guided outdoor adventures in Beaver Creek. Wine and spirits tastings, seminars, winemaker dinners and a performance with renowned comedian Craig Shoemaker will round out the weekend.
