Beaver Creek resident wins World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Contest with her Beaver Bites

Cassie Pence

BEAVER CREEK ” Gooey on the inside, crispy on the outside is the way hungry skiers described Peggy Morgan’s Beaver Bites, which won first place at Beaver Creek’s third annual World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Contest Wednesday.

Morgan wins a trip for two to Beaver Creek in the summer, including lodging for two people for four nights, ground transportation, two dinners at a Beaver Creek restaurant and three resort activities. Her winning recipe ” which calls for unexpected ingredients vanilla pudding, oatmeal and corn flakes ” becomes the resort’s signature cookie for the winter.

The recipe will be posted on the Web site (www.beavercreek.snow.com) and baked for some of Beaver Creek’s special events.

Debbie Slabaugh of Dallas, who made the cookie finals once before, took second place, winning a Beaver Creek Culinary Classic package.
