Beaver Creek seeks top chocolate chip cookies

BEAVER CREEK, Colorado – The seventh annual Beaver Creek Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition, in which the top five recipes will be selected to compete for bragging rights as the official cookie of Beaver Creek, happens this fall.
Cookie competition submissions will be accepted from Oct. 19-21, and the five finalists will participate in the official cookie competition which takes place promptly at 2 p.m. on Beaver Creek’s opening day, Nov. 24.
Anyone is eligible to bake and submit 12 cookie samples with an original chocolate chip cookie recipe. Cookies must be no more than 4 inches in diameter and will be judged using the following criteria: taste (50 percent); appearance (20 percent); texture (10 percent); and reproducible recipe (20 percent). Cookies competition entrants will be pre-judged and five finalists will be selected to compete during the opening day competition on Nov. 24, when 5,000 warm chocolate chip cookies will be served to skiers and snowboarders. Finalists must be able to attend the competition.
Resort guests and locals can cast a vote for their favorite homemade chocolate chip cookie during the seventh annual competition finals on Nov. 24. The winning cookie will become the official cookie of Beaver Creek and the winner also will receive $1,000; second will be awarded $500; and third place receives $250.
All cookie entries must be received by mail or dropped in-person between Oct. 19-21. Cookies may be shipped overnight via UPS or FedEx or delivered in person to the Beaver Creek Resort Company office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entry forms, competition rules and detailed delivery instructions are available online at http://www.beavercreek.com.
