Beaver Creek telemark workshops start Saturday

BEAVER CREEK – The first session of Beaver Creek’s co-ed telemark workshops is Saturday. First-time and expert telemark skiers age 17 and up can develop the basics or refine their technique with Beaver Creek Ski & Snowboard School instructors. Beaver Creek’s coed telemark workshops continue Jan. 9, Feb. 20 and March 6. Vail Mountain will host its first coed workshop on Jan. 6 at Golden Peak. Beaver Creek’s kids’ telemark workshops, for children ages 6 to 15, are scheduled for Jan. 10 and Feb. 21. will receive an introduction into the tele skiing world. The workshops are limited to 24 participants and reservations should be made in advance. Kids are taught by Beaver Creek instructors and special guest instructor Tele Ned will spend time with each group. This year a Kids’ Tele rental punch card is being offered which includes five rentals for $100. A “Super Sunday” women’s workshop will be held in Beaver Creek on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 7. All workshops take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants should meet at the Beaver Creek Nordic Center at 8:30 a.m. Vail workshop attendees will meet at the Golden Peak Center. Adults who need to rent equipment for the day are encouraged to arrive between 8 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. Telemark workshops are $83 per person for the lesson only. The lift ticket and lesson price is $145 per person. Beaver Creek’s weekly “Tele Tuesdays” are geared towards beginners and are designed to provide a social gathering where first-time and beginner telemark skiers are introduced to the sport and receive instruction from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tele Tuesdays take place throughout the winter and guests who plan to enroll in the beginner lesson should register at the Nordic Center. All other participants can meet either at the Nordic Center or the Coyote Cafe. A discounted instruction price of $59 per person is offered for the lesson only and discounted equipment rentals are available.For information on the workshops or general telemark instruction, call the Beaver Creek Nordic Center at 970-754-5313.
