Beaver Creek to host park competition for breast cancer awareness
BEAVER CREEK, Colorado ” Local snowboarder Justine Nadherny has teamed up with Beaver Creek Resort to host the first “Love for the Ladies” team park competition on Saturday to raise awareness and funds for the Vail Breast Cancer Awareness Group, a local nonprofit that supports those diagnosed with breast cancer in Eagle County.
The judged competition will take place in the Lumberyard Terrain Park at Beaver Creek starting at 9:30 a.m. Up to 30 teams consisting of three individuals and including at least one female will participate in an elimination round rail jam. After two runs, the round of 30 teams will be pared down to 15, then five teams that will be in the finals. A single run final will determine the top three teams, and they will be recognized at the end of the day. Skiers and snowboarders ages 12 and up are eligible and teams must raise at least $150 to enter.
Nadherny’s interest in organizing the event stems from her first-hand experience supporting her mom, who has been fighting the disease for four years. Her goal is to educate the younger generation about breast cancer and raise up to $10,000 for the Vail Breast Cancer Awareness Group.
