Beaver Creek to open more terrain Saturday

BEAVER CREEK, Colorado” Beaver Creek will expand its open terrain Saturday to 310 acres served by four lifts.

Ropes will drop on Red Buffalo, Booth Gardens, Mystic Island, Powell, Piney, Upper Centennial and Flattops trails. All of those trails will connect to the advanced Spruce Face trail, so there will be no beginner access at the top of the mountain.

The intermediate Gold Dust run will also open Saturday.



Lifts start running at 9 a.m.

Ten inches of snow have fallen at mid-mountain this week, the resort said.

The Birds of Prey World Cup races continue at Beaver Creek with the super-G at 11 a.m. Saturday and the slalom at 9:45 a.m. Sunday. Spectators can reach the grandstands by taking a bus up from Beaver Creek Village.

Vail Mountain also will open additional terrain this weekend.

On Saturday, the resort plans to offer more than 550 acres of terrain accessed by 14 lifts.

The following lifts and portions of terrain in these areas will open: Avanti Express Lift (chair 2), Wildwood Express Lift (chair 3), Mountaintop Express Lift (chair 4), Game Creek Express Lift (chair 7), Born Free Express Lift (chair 8), Minnie’s Lift (chair 9), Gopher Hill Lift (chair 12), Little Eagle Lift (chair 15), Vista Bahn Express Lift (chair 16), Eagle Bahn Gondola (Lift 19), Pride Express Lift (chair 26), and three beginner sufrace lifts at at Eagle’s Nest, LionsHead and Golden Peak
