Beaver Creek, Vail report five inches new snow

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado ” Beaver Creek and Vail each reported five inches of new snow this morning. Beaver Creek has a 70 inch mid-mountian base with Vail close behind with a 60 inch mid-mountain. Both resorts have 100 percent of their trails open.
Weather into the weekend calls for snow on Friday, with partly cloudy skies on Saturday and Sunday. Daytime highs will be in the upper 30s and overnight lows will dip into the teens.
A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM MST FRIDAY.
SNOW WILL REDEVELOP THIS MORNING AND THEN CONTINUE THROUGH TONIGHT. HEAVIEST SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR LATE TODAY AND EARLY TONIGHT…AND FAVOR WEST AND NORTHWEST FACING SLOPES. BY FRIDAY MORNING…NEW SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM 10 TO 20 INCHES…WITH SOME WEST AND NORTHWEST FACING SLOPES RECEIVING AS MUCH AS 18 TO 36 INCHES.
STRONG WEST WINDS FROM 20 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS TO OVER 50 MPH WILL CAUSE WIDESPREAD BLOWING SNOW…ESPECIALLY OVER THE HIGHER MOUNTAIN PASSES…SUCH AS RABBIT EARS AND VAIL PASS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.
A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW AND STRONG WINDS ARE EXPECTED. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE OVER RABBIT EARS AND VAIL PASSES.
