Beaver Creek: Wine dinner at Splendido benefits Bright Future Foundation
Beaver Creek, CO Colorado
BEAVER CREEK, Colorado – There will be a wine dinner on Friday from 7-10 p.m. at Splendido in Beaver Creek, Colorado to benefit the Bright Future Foundation.
The event is part of the part of the Beaver Creek Wine and Spirits Festival and will feature cuisine from guest chef Scott Conant from Scarpetta in New York and Executive Chef/owner David Walford of Splendido, winning wines from the San Francisco International Wine Competition and live and silent auction items.
The live auction items that will be available for bid include a VIP PGA golf experience; a week-long trip to Lech, Austria; a trip for two to the Amoretti World Pastry Team Competition; two box seats at the International Tennis Championships; a week-long trip to Florence, Italy; and a hiking trip to Argentina with a tour of the wine country.
Proceeds from the auction go to Bright Future Foundation, a nonprofit foundation that empowers individuals and families affected by domestic violence and abuse to lead safe, productive lives through prevention services, advocacy, crisis intervention and recovery services.
“This is a challenging time for nonprofits because of the economy, especially for agencies that assist victims of domestic violence,” said Sheri Mintz, executive director for Bright Future Foundation. “Couples who are experiencing financial distress are three times more likely to engage in domestic violence. These financial times mean that it’s not only challenging to fundraise, but we’re seeing an increase in demand for our services.
“The funds raised from the wine dinner at Splendido will allow us to continue to serve the families that so desperately need our help,” Mintz said. “It’s so wonderful to work with the Wine and Spirits Festival because they do the heaving lifting and our staff can remain focused on what we do best: helping our clients.”
The proceeds from the live auction that will take place at the wine dinner will be used for a variety of services that Bright Future Foundation provides including running the crisis shelter, legal services, counseling and the transitional housing program.
The evening will open with a variety of hors d’oeuvres including yellowtail tuna, creamy polenta and crispy rock shrimp fritto. Guests will be welcomed by a special cocktail, “The Mistress,” from The Edison Los Angeles. Dinner will consist of four additional courses plus a chocolate course by guest chef Donald Wressell from the Guittard Chocolate Co. in Los Angeles. Courses will include a chilled pea soup, duck and herbed risotto, fennel crusted lamb and a peach melba. Wines will include: Clos du Bois, 2007 Chardonnay Reserve, Russian River Valley; Schild Estate Wines, 2006 Shiraz, Ben Schild Reserve, Barossa, AU; Merriam Vineyards, 2005 Bordeaux Blend, Miktos and Coole Swan Irish Cream Liqueur.
“The Beaver Creek Wine and Spirits epitomizes the best in wine, spirits, and food,” said Tony O’Rourke, executive director of the Beaver Creek Resort Company. “With this wine dinner, it’s a great occasion to combine great food and wine with an opportunity to help a key community resource in The Bright Future Foundation.”
Tickets to attend the wine dinner at Splendido are $125 per person and include a five-course meal with paired cocktails and wine. For tickets, please call 970.845.TIXS or visit http://www.vilarcenter.org
