BEAVER CREEK — The third annual Beaver Creek Food & Wine Weekend returns Thursday through Sunday, Jan. 26, featuring a four-day winter culinary celebration of food, wine and fun on the slopes. The chef talent for this year’s event includes Gavin Kaysen, Tim Love, Alex Seidel, Naomi Pomeroy and Fabio Viviani, along with acclaimed local host chefs. Notable mixologist Alex Ott will serve artfully crafted cocktails at some of the events. Ski and food enthusiasts can select from a variety of events, including cooking demonstrations, wine and spirits seminars and wine pairing dinners.
The weekend officially begins with the Meet the Chefs reception, where food lovers mix and mingle with this year’s celebrity chefs while enjoying hors d’oeuvres prepared by local chef talent, sipping cocktail creations from Ott and sampling other wine, spirit and beer libations. Avid skiers have time to tackle plenty of vertical feet and then wind down at Apres-Tiki with guest chef Tim Love, who will partner with Park Hyatt executive chef Christian Apetz for a Rocky Mountain luau on Friday, Jan. 24, or the Apres-Ski Burgers and Beers, featuring sliders and frosty beers on Saturday, Jan. 25. Ski.Eat.Ski allows intermediate and advanced levels to explore the mountain with pros from ski school followed by a gourmet lunch prepared by guest chef Gavin Kaysen. Beer connoisseurs should attend the intimate Lunch and Learn, where Food & Wine Best New Chef Naomi Pomeroy and Mirabelle owner and executive chef Daniel Joly will offer a cooking demonstration and food and beer parings.
On Jan. 24, dinners at Allie’s Cabin on the mountain and Splendido at the Chateau are hosted by local executive chefs and celebrity guest chefs.
The weekend culminates with the much-anticipated Celebrity Chef Ski Race & Brunch where chefs and their teams will compete head-to-head on the Haymeadow race course while raising money for charity. The winners will be celebrated during a post-race ceremony and brunch at the C-Bar. The race, capped at 10 teams, offers a limited number of start positions for the public, and guests may register on a first-come, first-served basis for $75 per person, which includes a special race access lift ticket, brunch and awards ceremony. The fastest team will win $500, which will be donated to the team captain’s designated charity. Proceeds from the weekend’s events also benefit the Bright Future Foundation.
Avid skiers and riders can garner plenty of time on the slopes and take advantage of afternoon apres sessions and evening events, experiencing the best of all worlds.
