BEAVER CREEK — The Vilar Performing Arts Center is offering savings on an assortment of entertainment opportunities for shows in January through April. Two packages, both of which offer five shows and five drinks in each, are $125, which is more than a 50 percent savings. Both package deals — the Winter Underground Sound Series and the VPAC 5-Pack went on sale this week at the Vilar Center box office, which can be reached at 970-845-8457. For more information on individual shows, visit http://www.vilarpac.org. The VPAC is located under the ice rink in Beaver Creek Village, 68 Avondale Lane, Beaver Creek. Show times vary.
‘Experience a Variety’
“I love hearing from audience members who share stories like ‘I would never have come to this show if it weren’t on the package, but I’m so glad I did’ or ‘I didn’t know these artists but they are new favorites of mine,’” said Vilar Center Executive Director Kris Sabel, “My hope is that by providing these packages at such an affordable price our community will come and experience a variety of quality performances which they may not be familiar with and might not ordinarily purchase a single ticket for, but we feel confident they will enjoy. Discovering a new artist can be so much more fulfilling than seeing your favorite artist for the sixth time.”
The Winter Underground Sound Series includes shows by Portland sensations Marchfourth Marching Band (Jan. 12), banjo virtuosos Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn (Jan. 19), iconic ‘80s movie star known for “The Breakfast Club” Molly Ringwald (Feb. 26), country sweethearts The Wailin’ Jennys (March 12) and The Blues Hall of Fame Tour featuring Charlie Musselwhite and John Hammond (March 22).
Series two is the VPAC 5-Pack, featuring one show from each of the following series: Broadway, dance, classical, opera and family. First up in the VPAC 5-Pack is the innovative dance troupe, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet (Jan. 25). Then witness the most popular opera of all time “La Boheme” performed by Teatro Lirico D’Europa (Feb. 18). The Broadway offering in this package is the grownup’s prequel to Peter Pan: “Peter and the Starcatcher” (March 1). French-Canadian chamber orchestra, Les Violons du Roy (March 20) follows as the classical event. Rounding out the 5-Pack is the family event filled with winter wonder, “Snowkus Pocus” (April 8).
