Behind Vail’s construction fences
VAIL ” Wondering what’s going on with those construction sites in Vail? Here’s the scoop:
The Ritz is still getting building permits, said Todd Goulding of Vail Resorts Development Company, and excavation is supposed to start in June and last three to four months. Construction is supposed to last for 30 to 33 months.
The Ritz has 71 condos and 45 timeshares. The building will be just west of the Vail Marriott in Lionshead and just east of Vail Resorts’ new “Ever Vail” site.
The Crossroads building will be demolished in early May. The project is supposed to be completed by late 2009.
Solaris will have 75 condos, a 10-lane bowling alley, a three-screen movie theater, stores, restaurants, an ice rink and a public plaza.

Workers are doing concrete work and stone work and installing windows, plumbing, electricity and drywall.
The Arrabelle at Vail Square has 66 condos ” all sold ” 36 hotel rooms, a spa, meeting rooms, a restaurant, stores, a loading dock and parking.
It will also have mountain-operations facilities, including locker rooms, offices, a ski school and an “activities center.”
Excavation is almost done, said developer Ron Byrne. Concrete should start arriving at the site in June, he said.
The Vail Mountainview Residences on Gore Creek are being built on the site of Apollo Park near Ford Park. The project will have 24 condos. It’s supposed to be done in 2008.
Workers are doing excavation and are removing groundwater, said Mark Reed of Layton Construction. Construction is supposed to finished in September of 2009, Reed said.
The Four Seasons will have 120 hotel rooms, 16 condos and 19 timeshares. The site is just southwest of the main Vail roundabout.
Workers are finishing up the lobby, the restaurants and the porte cochere, said General Manager Connie Dorsey. There will be a grand opening sometime in June, he said.
The project is between South Frontage Road and East Meadow Drive in Vail Village. It includes 100 hotel rooms, 38 timeshares, two restaurants, a bar and a spa.
Concrete and steel is being put up at the site, Goulding said. The project is supposed to be done by the winter of 2008-09.
The Vail Front Door project will include 13 Lodge at Vail Chalet townhomes ” all under contract ” a private club called the Vail Mountain Club, an underground parking garage, a new spa for the Lodge at Vail, a new skier-services building, a new loading bay and an addition to the Lodge at Vail. The Front Door project started last summer.
Workers are doing finish work on the condos. The timeshares are done, and should be occupied by owners later this month, said Todd Johnston of the Weitz Company.
At the marketplace, workers are doing interior work and installing kitchen equipment, said Barry Monroe of the Weitz Company. The marketplace should open sometime this spring, he said.
The complex has 10 condos and 12 timeshares. A marketplace on the first floor is supposed to have a cafeteria, a grocery store, a wine bar and a liquor store. One Willow Bridge Road is at the International Bridge and East Meadow Drive in Vail Village.
