Benefit in the buff
Well-known locals are finding a good reason to take off their clothes ” and get their photos taken while naked.
For almost 10 years, the Vail “Undressed” Calendar has been a popular purchase in the valley. Eagerly snatched up to see who the bold and beautiful bods are, the clever fundraiser has brought in the bucks for the Vail Valley Charitable Fund. Photos take place around the valley (and sometimes in studios), but always feature handsome hunks and lovely locals in beautiful settings of the Vail Valley. Many Vail “celebrities” have given a glimpse of their booties, like Olympic skier Toby Dawson, Ryan and Trista Sutter, extreme skier Chris Anthony, TV-8 gal Tricia Swenson and Vail founder Earl Eaton. And, yes, even I have had the nerve to take it all off for the organization.
Their big “Unvailing” party was Oct. 21 at the Park Hyatt. Gourmet Cowboy provided the food, and High Point Brewing helped out with the beer. Tony Gulizia performed with G-Flux (members of Flux-G).
And, of course, the stars of the calendar were there in full force. Even if you missed the big party, it’s not too late to grab your calendar (they make great holiday gifts).
The beneficiary, the Vail Valley Charitable Fund, helps Eagle County locals who have gone through or are going through medical crises that have hit them hard financially. Over the years, more than 600 individuals and families have received help from the VVCF with more than $5 million raised and distributed.
Folks featured in the calendar this year are Drew and Shawna Wachter, Merlin Sagon from Camelot Balloons, Karen Simon, Debbie Taagen, Mark Sassi, Beth Affleck, Kim Wallach, Team Pinotage, Greg Johnson, Susan Johnson, Mike Earl and Anna Rice, Annie Richards, Tim and Deb Scully and Bobby Hernreich.
You can purchase your calendar for around $15 at Copy Plus in Gypsum and Eagle, Alpine Ambiance in Eagle and Edwards, Hairafter/DJ’s, Ptarmigan Sports, Any Occasion, the Bookworm, the Vail Daily, Scully’s, Holy Toledo, the General Store (Beaver Creek and Lionshead), Aria Club and Spa, the Swedish Clog Cabin and the Moose’s Caboose, or by calling the VVCF 970-845-6339.
