Bennet grabs $1.4M more in Colo. Senate race

DENVER – Sen. Michael Bennet says he had another eye-popping quarter raising money, hauling in $1.4 million for his re-election bid.

Bennet is the first Senate candidate to announce first-quarter results ahead of an April 15 federal deadline. The campaign has not elaborated on how much money Bennet has on hand, though he’s raised more than $1 million each quarter since being appointed to the Senate seat last year.

Bennet faces former state House Speaker Andrew Romanoff for the Democratic nomination. Romanoff hasn’t reported his first-quarter fundraising results yet, but he has trailed Bennet in previous quarters. However, Romanoff has racked up wins in party caucuses and assemblies leading up to the statewide Democratic convention in May.
