Berm construction at Cordillera Valley Club underway
EDWARDS — A two-year, $2 million project to build a berm the length of The Cordillera Valley Club is two weeks in.
The collaborative effort between the Cordillera Valley Club Metro District, Property Owners Association and The Club at Cordillera will bring 2,400 truckloads of dirt followed by the planting of trees.
“It’s going to largely mitigate the noise and visual impact of the I-70 and Highway 6 corridor,” said Tom Jaffe, board member of The Cordillera Valley Club Metro District and Slifer, Smith & Frampton real estate broker.
The average height of the berm will be 12 feet and the length of the 7,200-foot Valley Club, minus where existing hills and features serve as a barrier.
Construction will halt for the winter before continuing in 2017.

The project will have minimal effect on residents, Jaffe said, outside of trucks coming in and out. Property values should increase, according to Tom Marcin, owner of Marcin Engineering that led the entitlement and engineering process.
“The real driving force behind this is (Cordillera Valley Club) POA member and top local engineer Tom Marcin because he’s really the one that’s making it happen,” Jaffe said.
