Vail Daily obituary: Bernice Busse White, 1924-2016
Bernice B. White passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her bedside in Dallas on Oct. 6, at the age of 92. She was born in Brenham, Texas, to Herman and Hannah Busse ( Quebe ). She graduated from Brenham High School in 1942, and from Jefferson Davis Hospital School of Nursing, in Houston in 1945. She married Gordon D. White on March 23, 1947 in Houston.
They moved to New Orleans, Louisiana shortly after and she continued her nursing career there. They returned to Houston in 1951 where she continued to work as a nurse and raised her family. She retired from nursing in 1985 and moved to Eagle in 1998, where she lived for many years.
She enjoyed volunteering in various organizations in the community, including the United Methodist Women, and the Eagle County Seniors. She also enjoyed water aerobics, playing dominoes, sewing, spending time with her grandchildren, and snowshoeing along Brush Creek.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, and sister, Joanne. She is survived by her children, Ken White ( Marcye ) of Manhattan, Kansas; Rene’ Heiner ( Gary ) of Dallas; grandchildren Kimberly Baker (Adam) of Westminister; Sarah White of Denver; Cole Heiner, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Hayley Heiner ,of San Diego; great-granddaughter, Emily Baker, and sister, Jeanette Replogle, of Hinesville, Georgia.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Dec. 3 at the United Methodist Church in Eagle beginning at 11 a.m.
