Berry Creek Road in Edwards to close
EDWARDS, Colorado – Berry Creek Road at Beard Creek near the Edwards interchange will close Friday for 21 days while the Berry Creek/Beard Creek roundabout is being built.Closure of Berry Creek Road will begin Friday morning with traffic detoured to the Winslow Road underpass via Miller Ranch Road. The closure will be in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until the end of the work day on Sept. 2.This closure is necessary to allow for the expedited construction of the Berry Creek/Beard Creek roundabout. Signage alerting travelers of the detour will be placed on Interstate 70 and on the Edwards Access Road.Crews will be seeing more six-day work weeks as the work moves into Phase III of the project. However, there will be no impacts to I-70 travel over the weekends. The Edwards Interchange Project, located at I-70 exit 163, will replace four signaled intersections with 2-lane roundabouts. The roundabouts are designed to improve traffic flow and safety at this interchange and add a bike/pedestrian path and drainage upgrades. Crews began construction in April and should be complete by Nov. 19.The project was funded by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009.For information on this project, the public may call the project information hotline at 970-949-1102 or log on to the project Web page at http://www.coloradodot.info/projects/i70edwardsinterchange.
