Best Car Camping Supplies
Bag and Pack
The employees at Bag and Pack are an active lot. Days off will often find them in tents on mountainsides, ready to make an ascent. But the Vail and Avon shops have plenty of gear for those who prefer to roll into a campsite instead of hike in. “I think it’s a great alternative to regular camping because it’s a way to get in and out fairly quickly,” said Rob Boone, who works at the Avon store. “Sometimes you don’t have a lot of time to deal with. A lot of people car camp, and I think it’s a great way to get out there.”
Ptarmigan Sports in Riverwalk is set to outfit the outdoors lifestyle with a colorful, fashionable zing. Though the space is large, every wall, every bit of floor space, holds some rack of gear that seems essential. From sleeping bags and hiking boots to hoodies and Camelbaks, it’s a one-stop shop for the outdoors. Avon’s Sports Authority is a sprawling jungle of sports and outdoors equipment. The store carries at least one of everything, and sometimes more.
