A Secret Garden
Petals of Provence
Hothouse Flowers of Vail
Turns out A Secret Garden isn’t so secret anymore. After shifting her operation a couple blocks to the East on Meadow Drive in Vail Village, Susan Rapson Hilbert reopened a bigger, better place. “I call it a floral and garden gift shop,” she said. “It’s very eclectic. We sell gourmet pesto, books, jewelry, candies, linens, and since our move , a lot more gifts.” But a flower shop it will always remain. Right now, spring mixes are in vogue and in season ” including tulips, daffodils, any type of spring bulb, lilies and fragrant flowers.
Riverwalk’s Petals of Provence is known for the European design of its bouquets. Utilizing a technique called French bunching, there’s more of a visual impact from the flowers. The shop was opened in 2000 by Gail Cordova, who’s always been attracted to artistic endeavors. Though the folks at Hothouse Flowers of Vail do everything from weddings to parties, one of their most popular items is a “brighten your day” vase. There’s something about “just because” flowers that make them extra special. Tulips are in season, and they’ve got a great, colorful selection right now.
