BEAVER CREEK ” Celebrate Independence Day in the mountains with a family picnic, free outdoor concerts, fireworks and a clam bake in Beaver Creek.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy kicks off the Fourth celebrations July 1, when the play a outdoor concert on the Beaver Creek Lawn from 6-7:30 p.m.

Beano’s Clam Bake starts off the actual holiday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on July 4, up on top of Beaver Creek Mountain. Enjoy an expansive buffet with steamed clams and mussels, East Coast oysters on the half shell, poached shrimp and snow crab legs, New York strip, barbecue chicken, bratwurst, hamburgers and a variety of salads and desserts. Live music and lawn games are offered for kids and adults. Cost is $55 for adults and $30 for children. Adult admission includes two free drink tickets for beer or wine.Reservations are required. The Glenn Miller Orchestra, with opening act Ambrosia, kicks off at 6 p.m. on July 4. A fireworks display over Beaver Creek Mountain follows at 9 p.m.

On July 3, the town of Avon hosts the largest fireworks display in the Colorado Rockies as the latest pyrotechnics are launched over calm Nottingham Lake. Avon’s famous Salute to the USA celebration also offers live music, food and craft vendors, a beer garden and a family zone beginning at 5 p.m. This annual hallmark event draws 20,000 spectators and the 9:45 p.m. fireworks display is set to a musical score and is broadcast across the valley.
