Big box blues
Sounds like we need some empirical evidence. How about a Vail Daily survey on your Web site? Just like the Denver Post does on controversial issues. A great way to drive lots of people to the Web site as well.
Vail’s success depends on this valley being “special” and a nicer place than where most people come from; hence the term “resort.”
I’m sure some locals will enjoy the convenience that these stores provide. After all, without many tourists around in the future, they’ll have a lot more free time to enjoy the drama and excitement that comes from shopping at Wal-Mart here in suburbia. Box stores and world class ski resort valleys don’t mix. Seems pretty obvious to me, and many others as well.
