Bike to Work Day is set to take place Wednesday

EAGLE COUNTY — Wednesday is Colorado Bike to Work Day and people are encouraged to bike ride or walk to work that day.

The citizen volunteer ECO Trails Committee, along with Pedal Power bike shop, the towns of Gypsum, Eagle, Avon and Vail, and several other local businesses are supporting this event by rewarding those who choose to use bicycling or walking to travel to their workplaces.

Volunteers will host rest stops between 7 and 9 a.m. at the following locations:

• Mayor’s Park in Vail.

• Malin trail bridge in Dowd Junction.

• Avon’s U.S. Highway 6 roundabout.

• Edwards’ U.S. Highway 6 intersection.

• Eagle Town Hall.

• U.S. Highway 6 in Gypsum at Eagle Valley High School.

Visitors to the rest stops will be offered refreshments as well as free giveaways for making the effort to ride or walk to work.

Sponsors, donors and volunteers include the citizen’s ECO Trails Committee, Pedal Power, The Sonnenalp of Vail, the town of Vail, Vail Resorts, the town of Eagle, the town of Avon, the town of Gypsum, Starbucks of Edwards, Loaded Joe’s, Bonjour Bakery, Northside Coffee & Kitchen, Red Canyon Cafe, Ridley’s Market and Heidi’s Brooklyn Deli.
