EVHS is Sweat City Monday
Eagle Valley High School two-a-day football practice begins 8 a.m. Monday with a team meeting in the EVHS auditorium. For the uninitiated, two-a-day football practice is a form of purgatory where teen-agers go to pay for the sins of driving their parents’ cars that way. For the EVHS version, players need to have a current physical, insurance, cleats and a lunch. Practices will be 9 a.m. to noon, and again at 1-3:30 p.m. all week. If you have questions, call John Ramunno at 328-2301.
House an exchange student
The Vail-Eagle Valley Rotary Club has committed to host Marta Zakrzewska, a young woman from Olsztyn, Poland, for the coming year. Marta will arrive this month and will attend Battle Mountain High School.
The Rotary Club is looking for families to host for 3-month time periods for the coming year. If you are interested, contact Larry Agneberg at 476-2482, ext. 16, or Montine Hansl at 476-2043. The Vail Eagle Valley Rotary Club provides a monthly allowance to each host family, as well as an allowance to the student. Host families need not be Rotarians and do not necessarily have to have children or children the same ages as the exchange students.
Kentucky Special Forces
The latest plan to drive the Taliban and al-Quaida out of the mountains of Afghanistan is to send in a team of Kentucky Special Forces.
Billy Bob, Bubba, Boo, Scooter and Cooter are being sent in with the following information about the Taliban:
1. The season opened last weekend.
2. There is no limit.
3. They taste just like chicken.
4. They don’t like beer, pickup trucks, country music or Jesus.
5. They don’t like barbeque.
6. They were responsible for Dale Earnhardt’s death.
This should be over in about a week.
