HCBR STAFF REPORTS

The Summit County Business Barometer, a quarterly business survey conducted to measure the economic pulse of our local business community, dropped to a reading of 3.29 for the first quarter of 2007. This week, the Q2 one-line survey will be sent to chamber members and also be available as a direct link from the homepage of Summit Daily News website at http://www.summitdaily.com.The two-minute survey is designed to measure business activity during the past quarter, based on responses from key sectors of our economy. The results are tabulated to provide feedback on the current level of business activity in Summit County and to project confidence levels looking forward. Expanding the survey to a broader audience and incorporating new and better defined business categories to include all Summit County business owners and professionals is giving us a clearer picture of the county as a whole, said Constance Jones, executive director of the Summit Chamber headquartered in Dillon. We hope it will continue to serve as a useful planning tool for the private, public, and non-profit sectors. The Summit County Business Barometer, launched in 2006, is currently sponsored by the Summit Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Summit Daily News, Edward Jones Investments and John Boozer & Associates. Comments and suggestions can be directed to the chamber office at (970) 668-2051 or Mark Nunn, Edward Jones in Frisco at (970) 668-3811.
