What goods or services do you provide? We apply fire retardant sealers and paints to wood surfaces.
What’s new or exciting at your place? My place won’t burn to the ground when that imminent forest fire comes through.
What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? There is no competition! We are the only business willing to get on your wood roof and apply the protection that no one has told you about. Everything wooden on your home requires maintenance. Cedar wood shake shingles were and still are mandated in certain communities and need to be maintained. Fire-retardant properties in such shingles are “leached” out by our elements within a few years and need to be re-applied and protected over the years. The same is true with decks.
What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you? We are the only “certified” appliers of this product in Colorado. It has taken years to become certified and find the appropriate insurance to do such applications.
Tell us a little about your background, education and experience: I grew up in western New York (Buffalo area). I played a lot of sports throughout high school and college. I worked every summer with my uncle, who was a contractor, and we did everything from painting, roofs, concrete, new construction and remodels.
While policymakers are celebrating a big drop in Colorado’s individual health insurance prices for 2020, they’re also scrambling to combat the sharp decline in the number of carriers in rural parts of the state where 22 of 64 counties have just one option on the Obamacare marketplace.
