What goods or services do you provide? Water treatment.
What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? At Culligan we place a high emphasis on proper application and long-term service for each water-treatment system that we design. An environmentally sound approach is always taken to ensure the least amount of waste. Our recipe for success is a long-term solution rather than exaggerated claims and heavy marketing of untested products.
Tell us a little about your background, education and experience. I studied microbiology and economics in college. I moved to Colorado in 1994 after graduating from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. I worked for a small water-treatment company for six years before joining Culligan in 2000.
What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened? A few years ago the UPS man was picking up a water sample. He kept going on and on to our office manager about “What kind of a moron filled this paperwork out like this?” And “What sort of an idiot would write this here? He must have rocks for brains?” Anyway, it seemed to go on forever as I sat in my office listening. Guess who that moron was.
