What goods or services do you provide?
In addition to our Avon location, we now offer mobile pet grooming and minor pet tartar removal in my salon on wheels, at your home or at your business. Mobile service is a wonderful alternative for people and their pets. Avoid dropping off and picking up your pets. Your pets will be professionally groomed in my self-contained salon without other pets around and no cages.
Grooming is one-on-one and completed within 90 minutes. I will also deliver your pet’s food to you. Mobile grooming fees begin at $95 and $50 for tartar removal. All groomings include nail trimming/filing, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, anal expression, brush-out, warm bath, hand blow dry,and clip to suit. I handle well-behaved pets up to 35 pounds.
What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition?
For a few years now, mobile service has been unavailable to the Vail Valley. Many people have told me there is a need for busy people to avoid the hassle of driving their pets to and from the salon. Now, with one phone call, your pet’s hygienic needs are met without ever leaving the comfort of home.
What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you? I treat people and their pets as I would like my own parents and their pets to be treated, with gentle professionalism at a very reasonable cost.
Tell us a little about your background, education and experience.
I have been grooming for 29 years in California, Northern Ireland, and Colorado. Pet grooming is my passion and I can’t imagine ever doing anything else.
What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened?
I have a client with a Maltese. I jokingly asked her what color I should do her dog one day, and I suggested ‘screaming pink’ as I held up the container of coloring. She agreed! I was so surprised but off I went and wow! That was definitely screaming pink!
When she returned to find her cotton candy-colored cutie, it was then I realized that we were not on the same page… she thought I was talking about painting the dog’s nails pink! Needless to say, her husband was seeing red… or maybe it was screaming pink. OOOPS!
