What goods or services do you provide? Gemini Group, Inc. provides consulting on employee benefits, including group health, dental and life insurance plans, as well as short- and long-term disability. We also offer consulting on wellness programs, a product that can improve employees’ overall health and affect insurance premiums.
What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? Many brokers sell plans as commodities, like cans of peas on a supermarket shelf. But Gemini Group knows that selecting the right carrier and plan for your group is not a simple choice between premium and generic. Choosing the right employee benefit plans involves weighing many variables, each tied to the organization’s specific goals. Price is important, but it is only one factor in the decision. We work closely with clients to develop a long-term strategy based on employer and employee priorities, as well as budget constraints.
What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you? Service, technology and knowledge form the basis of the Gemini Group consulting approach. Teams of two Gemini Group representatives serve each client account. Backing those teams are over 20 benefit specialists with more than 100 years of collective insurance experience. And, through continuing education and innovation, we constantly develop new ways to assist our customers. Top-of-the-line communication tools, such as Benergy, HR Insider and recently Instant Apps, save time for plan administrators and employees.
Our customers expect the best employee benefits information and service. Gemini Group takes pride in delivering it.
Tell us a little about your background, education and experience. Gemini Group, Inc. is the product of a 2003 merger of three Denver insurance brokers. Each principal of the firm has over 25 years in the industry. I have been licensed as a life and health insurance producer in Colorado for four years. My insurance experience has focused on small business groups, usually with 10-50 employees. Prior to joining Gemini Group I was self employed and worked for over 20 years in the travel industry. I hold a B.A. in Urban Studies from Elmhurst College and completed two years of graduate school at the University of Northern Illinois in the School of Public Administration.
What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened? There was the time that I tried to boil an egg in our company microwave oven. The noise and odor not only got everyone’s attention but it took forever to clean up the exploded egg. I’m an insurance broker, not a chef, and I don’t cook eggs in microwave ovens any more.
