What goods or services do you provide? We are a full-service veterinary hospital including the latest technology in veterinary medicine. We provide the full spectrum of veterinary services including surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, emergency medicine and oncology as well routine health care for dogs and cats.

The facility includes a separate surgery suite, a full in-house laboratory capable of performing blood counts and blood chemistries and the valley’s first digital X-ray machine.

What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? We have the valley’s first digital X-ray machine. With digital radiography, images are available in five seconds. There is no film to be developed, meaning almost no “retakes,” and much less, if any, sedation is required. Radiographs can be taken home by clients on a CD (you can put them on your screen saver!) or e-mailed from our office to specialists. No developing means no chemicals, either. We are excited to be able to offer this new service to the valley’s pets.

What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you? Folks can expect the finest care delivered to their pets with a smile and compassion. Customer service is our forte, and clients will see a red carpet rolled out for them and their four-legged friends at Gypsum Animal Hospital. We treat each and every pet as if it were our own, and that is not a cliche. We are also going to try to be affordable at all levels.

Tell us a little about your background, education and experience. I received my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida. I owned and was medical director of an American Animal Hospital Association-accredited hospital in Florida for 14 years before relocating to Colorado with my family six years ago. We have been visiting the valley for more than 30 years and absolutely love Colorado just like everyone else here. I have three children, a wonderful fiancee and too many pets to list!

What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened? I have not killed anyone during the difficult and tedious construction of this hospital. If I can’t laugh about that, I would start to cry. Also, the first time a dog pooped in our hospital, my new staff all looked at one another with the “Who do you think is going to clean that up?” look on their faces.
