Bizwatch: Vail Valley Massage Co-op
Vail, CO, Colorado
Business name: Vail Valley Massage Co-op
Date opened: 1993
Owners: Tavia Charnet, Andrea Risch, Cheryl Goldberg and Sylvia Meszarosovas.
Contact info: Our voice mail pager is 970-845-4242 (Do they even make those any more?) We are trying to convert it to a cell phone, but need to keep the number – remember, we started waaaaay back in 1993. Leave a message with your name and number and we’ll get back to you right away.
What goods or services do you provide? Really great outcall massage. We come to where you are!
What’s new or exciting at your place? We are currently offering $25 off our regular prices for new clients. Normally our services are $120 an hour and $165 for a 90-minute massage. Some spas charge close to $250 for a 90-minute massage. We will also match any competitor’s price for outcall massage.
What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? All of our therapists are very qualified and have years of experience. Receiving massage in your home or where are staying is so great – after relaxing we can just roll you onto your couch and you don’t have to drive anywhere!
What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you? Massage is a gift to yourself and everyone you come in contact with. Times are very trying right now – everyone is stressed and we all need some relaxation. By offering $25 off you’re saving money on a much-needed and deserved luxury without sacrificing quality.
Tell us a little about your background, education and experience: All of our therapists are trained in a variety of massage styles including deep tissue, sports, craniosacral, reiki, pre-natal, esalan, ashiatsu, trigger point and more. We have several therapists who work with us, so if you need a specific type of work we will have a therapist for you.
What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened? (From Andrea): I have several clients with children. When I begin to set up the table the first question is usually, “Mommy, can I get a massage too?” I usually let them hop up for a few minutes and after just five minutes of working on them bedtime is soooo much smoother. Either that or they stay to “help” by handing me my cream, or working on one arm while I’m on the other. It’s never too early to start exploring career options!
