blog: 2013 World Championships, the booth has arrived

The first full day in Cape Town proved to be very productive as we were able to determine that all of the things that were shipped from the States have arrived and are at the hotel. While you would normally expect this to be the case, a number of the other candidates are scrambling trying to find bits and pieces of their shipments that hopefully are scattered somewhere around the hotel.
It seems that pretty much all of the candidates have sent a portion of their delegation early, some being more relaxed than others, depending on the status of their inventory list. I have to say that in terms of sheer size, the two large crates that contain the Beaver Creek/Vail booth present an imposing site sitting next to stacks of brochures and supplies from the other candidates so perhaps we win the initial battle, otherwise known as the packaging prize.
The shells for the individual booths will get assembled tomorrow and we go about the task of building our booth first thing Sunday morning. Many of the Congress delegates will begin arriving over the weekend, with the initial meetings getting underway on Sunday.
While the current atmosphere is pretty casual, you can feel that all the candidates are keeping a close eye on one another, making mental notes of who is talking to whom and for how long.
The rumors are already starting to fly about who is reportedly voting for which candidate and you attempt to take them for what they are worth. However, the mental chess match is ongoing and will only intensify as we get into next week.
