1310 Westhaven Dr., West Vail
Light and breezy or dim and romantic, the two rooms at Blue Tiger cater to both moods. Colorful oil paintings on the wall and a checkerboard floor create a funky and eclectic environment, just like the food.
East meets west in this sushi bar/tapas bar. From sashimi to escargot, there’s something for every taste. The tapas, or small plates, make it easy to try a little bit of everything. For a heartier meal, Blue Tiger keeps a discriminating selection of entrees.
More than 20 international wines are offered by the glass and even more by the bottle. The eatery shows its fun side with an inventive martini menu, along with a variety of sakes, tequilas and exotic teas.
Balls of dough are mixed with bits of shrimp and vegies, rolled in coconut and deep fried to create a crispy outside and soft center. A sweet chili dipping sauce adds a kick to complete this must try. The classic antipasti plate is abundant with cheese, including marinated mozzorella and cabrales, a Spanish blue. The star of the platter, though, is the seared chorizo, almost smokey but not quite.
With Cascade Theater just steps away, Blue Tiger was a natural winner in the Vail Daily’s Readers’ Poll for Best Dinner Before a Movie.
