Daily Staff Report

EDWARDS – Need child care? Help is on the way.Eagle County intends to break ground this spring on a child-care facility with room for 80 children. The county Board of Commissioners will review plans next Tuesday for the facility, which will be built in Edwards’ Miller Ranch. The meeting will be in the county administration building, 500 Broadway St. in Eagle.County officials already have a list of 65 children whose parents are interested in putting them in the facility, said Kathleen Forinash, the county’s health and human services director. The building will consist of two floors. The bottom floor will be for child care. The second floor will be a Miller Ranch community center with a large conference room and office space. “It really promises to be a very exciting childcare facility,” Forinash said. “We are making every effort to make sure it’s really a quality learning environment.”County officials will begin considering an agency to run the center soon. The Miller Ranch sales office, which now is in a trailer at the edge of the residential development, will move into the second floor of the child care facility.
