Body found in Keystone Lake

KEYSTONE ” Searchers found a body in Keystone Lake Friday, ending a search that began Wednesday for Roberto Acosta-Reyes, a resort employee who disappeared in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The body, found at about 2:30 p.m. on the east end of the lake, is presumed to be Acosta-Reyes, 27, but officials will wait for the results of an autopsy to confirm identification and determine a cause of death.

Acosta-Reyes was last seen at about 3 a.m. Tuesday at the lake with friends after an end-of-season party, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office said.

One of the men was pushed into the water and pulled Acosta-Reyes along with him, according to a sheriff’s report. Both men climbed out of the water, and then two of the four men went to a car to get towels while Acosta-Reyes and the fourth man went their separate ways, according to sheriff’s spokeswoman Paulette Horr.

The three men have been questioned, but police would not release their names because the case is under investigation. No one was arrested Friday in association with the death, and foul play is not suspected.

“From the beginning, they never thought foul play was involved,” Horr said. “They’ll know more from the autopsy. … It’s all speculation at this time. Who knows how he got back in (to the lake)?”

Crews returned to the lake to search for Acosta-Reyes with an underwater camera Friday and expanded the search area outside the lake. On Thursday, a diver and an underwater camera found no trace of the man.
