Boogie your chills away
VAIL – As sure as the covering of snow on the ground, the announcement of the Bud Light Street Beat free concert series lineup is an undeniable sign that the winter season has arrived.
The free Street Beat series at Checkpoint Charlie will begin Nov. 29, kicking off the Birds of Prey Men’s World Cup Week, and will continue through Dec. 6 before taking a nine-week hiatus to bypass the traditionally colder months of January and early February. The concerts will pick back up on Feb. 14 and run each Wednesday evening until April 11, closing out the ski season with Funkalicious.
All concerts begin at 6 p.m. at Checkpoint Charlie on Gore Creek Drive in Vail Village, with the exception of the March 21 concert which will take place in Golden Peak as part of the American Ski Classic festivities. This year’s lineup features rock, funk, reggae, big brass and more. Highlights include rockers The BoDeans, southern funkers North Mississippi Allstars and Irish folk band Seven Nations.
Free parking is offered in Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures after 3 p.m. At each show, Eagle, Summit or Lake County residents can register for the Grand Prize drawing of a 2007 Volvo V50. Out of town guests can register weekly for a chance to win a return trip in the Volvo Vail Grand Prize Guest Giveaway Vacation with deluxe accommodations. Additional prizes are given away weekly.
