Boulder: Obama may hold rally at CU stadium

Associated Press
Vail, CO Colorado

BOULDER, Colorado ” The University of Colorado says the Barack Obama campaign has asked about renting the school’s football stadium for a rally during the week of the Democratic convention.

Folsom Field, which seats nearly 54,000, is on the university’s Boulder campus about 25 miles from the convention site in Denver.

University spokesman Bronson Hilliard said no deal has been reached and the details are still being worked out. Shannon Gilson, a spokeswoman for the Obama campaign, says she’s unaware of any plans for a rally at the university.

Hilliard says the base rent would be about $50,000 but other costs, like security and set-up, could raise that to $200,000.

The convention is Aug. 25-28.
