Boulder OKs temporary rules for pot dispensaries
BOULDER, Colorado – City leaders in Boulder have adopted regulations for new medical marijuana dispensaries.
Dispensaries won’t be able to open near schools or in residential areas under temporary rules passed just after midnight Wednesday by the Boulder City Council. About 100 people showed up, many of them fearing the council would declare a moratorium on new dispensaries.
The council didn’t go that far and the new rules don’t apply to the 42 dispensaries that already exist in Boulder or the 21 who have applied for permits to open.
Most leaders agreed that the city needs to study how to best regulate dispensaries but that the short-term regulations are appropriate for now.
