Boulder woman suspected of prostitution in Vail

Ellen Malmquist, 38, was arrested at 4 p.m., Thursday, when an investigator with the Eagle County Crime Task Force met her at an undisclosed location in Vail, said Sgt. Mike Warren, a Vail police detective.

Police became suspicious when they were notified of an ad in the personals section of the Vail Daily offering a full body massage from a woman named “Sarah,” Warren said.

“So we called and made an appointment. She offered sex for money and we arrested her for that,” Warren said Friday.

Malmquist asked the undercover officer if hey wanted a massage and then offered to have sex for $110, Warren said.

Malmquist had been camping in the area and had been making periodic trips to the Vail Valley, Warren said.

“These are rare,” Warren said. “Every so often we’re out there and we fish around a little, but this is not a frequent thing.”

Malmquist’s ad has been pulled from the personals section of the Vail Daily. The ad read, “Full Body Massage” and listed a phone number to call “Sarah.” Malmquist paid for the ad under a different name, Warren said.

Malmquist was charged with prostitution, a misdemeanor, and booked into the Vail Town Jail on a $500 bond Thursday night, Warren said.

The Eagle County Crime Task Force is comprised of officers from the Vail and Avon police departments and the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.
