Boy, 3, dies in fall near Telluride

MOUNTAIN VILLAGE ” A 3-year-old boy who fell from a third-story window while visiting the Mountain Village area with his parents has died of his injuries, authorities said.

Owen Lane, the son of Mark Lane and Eliza Urshell of Missoula, Mont., died Sunday at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, San Miguel County officials said.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Jennifer Dinsmore said the child was standing on a chair next to a window on Saturday when he fell through the screen at his grandparents’ home.

Owen fell about 25 feet, plunging into a rock garden and striking his head, Dinsmore said.

“His parents are donating his organs to the Donor Alliance,” coroner Bob Dempsey said Tuesday.

Dinsmore said the boy’s parents had returned to Montana to make funeral arrangements.

No criminal charges are planned, Dinsmore said.

Mountain Village is about 210 miles southwest of Denver.
