Bravo! awarded cultural grant for 2007 season

Daily Staff Report

VAIL ” Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival has received a $22,500 grant from the Colorado Council on the Arts. This grant will support Bravo!’s 2007 efforts to expand and diversify music opportunities for children, adults and families through year-round community education outreach programs.

“We are very thankful to the Colorado Council on the Arts for its continued support and generosity,” said John Giovando, Bravo!’s executive director. “This grant is an investment in Bravo! and Colorado’s Vail Valley as the funds will support our mission to foster family and community unity through increasing awareness and appreciation for classical music and the arts.”

For the past three years, the Colorado Council on the Arts has supported Bravo!’s educational efforts. The CCA’s mission is to promote the cultural, educational and economic growth of Colorado through development of its arts and cultural heritage. Among other goals, the CCA works to make the arts more accessible to all Coloradans and to participate in local and regional economic development. For more than 40 years, the CCA has invested in communities across the state to ensure the benefits of the arts are enjoyed by thousands of Colorado youth and millions of Colorado citizens and visitors every day.

Throughout the year, Bravo! provides free and affordable events for students, teachers, families and visitors through its Music Matters educational program. Music Matters gives participants the opportunity to explore diverse musical endeavors in an effort to further integrate the arts into the community and to enhance school music programs.

One of Bravo!’s most popular programs is Live @ the Library. Children ages 3-7 can listen to professional orchestra and chamber musicians give free performances at local libraries. Children also have an opportunity to play the instruments themselves. Last year nearly 1,000 kids attended the library series. Other Music Matters programs include the Free Family Concert in July, Instrument Petting Zoo, Young Artists Program, after-school music programs, music camp scholarships, school grants and more.
