VAIL, Colorado –The Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival volunteer guild hosts its annual volunteer membership reception and concert sign up at the Vail Library Monday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The volunteers assist with ushering for the summer orchestra and chamber concerts while raising funds for the festival’s community programs. Members will be able to sign up for preferred concert dates and positions, pay membership dues and enjoy food and beverages provided by Chef Eric Berg from Vail Catering Concepts.

Volunteerism helps keep concert production costs down and money raised from membership dues, merchandising sales and the annual snowshoe event help fund children’s music education programs.

The money helps produce affordable, after-school group piano lessons during the school year and exposes thousands of children to the instruments, composers and repertoire of classical music during the summer months.

“The Guild Board is proud to support the festival’s educational endeavors. The programs are fun, innovative and most importantly, they are working. Children are not only being exposed to music, they are learning to read music and perform,” says Frank Strauss, the guild’s vice president.

“Volunteering is a great way to enjoy incredible music, meet new people and help the community,” says Marion Laughlin, president of the guild board.

From June 25 to Aug. 3 the Festival will host the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic along with Yo-Yo Ma in recital and over 40 international solists and chamber musicians. In addition to the paid concerts, the festival produces over 50 free community programs.

Individuals who cannot attend the membership party but would like to volunteer are encouraged to visit the Web site and download an application form or call 970-827-5700.
